Q: Can I wear your hoops in a new piercing?
A: All of my hoops and studs are intended for wear in fully healed piercings only.
Q: What type of recycled silver do you use in your jewelry?
A: I use Argentium ® silver, which is recycled, 93.5% silver, tarnish resistant due to the added germanium, and does not contain nickel. My favorite characteristic is that it is harder than traditional sterling silver, which means that jewelry made with it is less susceptible to becoming scratched, dented or otherwise deformed from daily wear. Invisible to the naked eye, the transparent layer of germanium oxide that forms on the surface is what allows pieces made from Argentium ® silver to resist tarnish so well.
Q: Are sterling silver earrings durable?
A: After work hardening all of my pieces, I also precipitation harden all of my silver jewelry, which is a special heat treatment that further increases the hardness.
Q: Does the sterling silver you use contain nickel?
A: I use Argentium ® silver, which is recycled, 93.5% silver, tarnish resistant due to the added germanium, and does not contain nickel. It is an alloy of silver, copper and germanium.
Q: Do you make any jewelry with metals that are safe for people with metal sensitivities?
A: Yes, I also have grade-2 pure unalloyed niobium and grade-1 commercially pure titanium wire. I routinely keep the following gauges in stock: 20g, 18g, and 16g.
Q: Tell me more about your niobium jewelry...
A: I use grade-2 pure unalloyed niobium, which is considered a safe metal for those with metal sensitives and will not corrode or tarnish. I use it in its natural state, which is a dark grey color, and I also heat treat some of my niobium jewelry pieces which lends a rich black color to the metal that will not wear off.
Q: Tell me more about your titanium jewelry...
A: I use Grade-1 commercially pure titanium, which is made in the USA and not an alloy.
